What to expect

Our experienced teachers will guide you through the fundamentals of improv in a relaxed, non-judgmental setting. No prior experience is required — just bring your enthusiasm and willingness to learn!

Teamwork and Collaboration

You’ll work with fellow participants to create unique, unscripted scenes. Listening, sharing, and building on each other’s ideas are essential skills you’ll develop throughout the course.

Intro to Improv techniques

About your teachers

This class is led by Greg Lavell and Isabella Valette. The two have worked together for over ten years, developing a strong creative connection and a shared love of improv. From completely improvised musicals, to short-form sketch shows, to narrative long-form, the two have developed a versatile, playful and energetic approach to improv.

Recently their new show ‘Cabaret Unscripted’, was nominated for BEST CABARET at Melbourne Fringe, 2023. A new season of the show is set to debut soon.

Greg Lavell

Greg is an accomplished player, teacher and director in Melbourne’s improv scene. With a background in jazz, Greg has always been interested in the wider world of improvisation and exploring techniques and new ways to spark creativity. In 2022, Greg founded Melbourne Unscripted, with a goal of nurturing improvising artists and developing new and exciting improv.
As an instructor, Greg draws on fifteen years of experience to bring a fun, supportive and valuable workshop experience.

Isabella Valette

Isabella Valette, a performer of remarkable versatility, honed her craft at the esteemed Arts Educational School in London. After returning to Melbourne, Isabella has produced a repertoire of acclaimed solo sketch and comedy works, performing at Edinburgh Fringe, Adelaide Fringe, Perth Fringeworld, and the Melbourne Comedy Festival.

Isabella has been a senior member of the acclaimed musical improv troupes Impromptunes and The Big Hoo Haa since 2014. Valette now produces, performs and teaches with Melbourne Unscripted.
