Music theatre Performers, Vocalists and creative Improvisers with experience in musical improv.
WHAT:
Classes focused on workshopping and exploring new ideas in songprov and ‘musical scene’ creation. Using Stephen Sondheim’s compositions as a starting point, we’ll discuss, analyse and play — bringing those musical, lyrical and structural ideas into an improvised context.
COST:
$20 per session (first session free).
WHERE AND WHEN:
Thursdays in January, 7pm to 9pm-or-so (and probably again from mid-Feb)

Greg Lavell has been an active performer, director, and teacher in Melbourne’s vibrant improv scene since 2010. As a performer, Greg won a prestigious Green Room Award in 2024 for his work in Melbourne Unscripted’s show Cabaret Unscripted. Greg has performed, directed and music-directed comedy and theatre productions with ‘Impro Melbourne’, ‘Impromptunes’, ‘The Big Hoo-Haa’ and ‘The Improv Conspiracy’, as well as performing interstate, and in the U.K, performing and teaching improv at festivals.

Greg’s expertise spans theatre, musical theatre, cabaret, and improvised music, making him uniquely qualified to guide beginners through the world of improv.
His approach to teaching emphasises playfulness, collaboration, and exploring your unique perspective in a relaxed and supportive environment.
